Custom made breakfront by William Coffey.
Of this piece, Mr. Coffey says:
"All the black Walnut is from one tree, found in 2003 growing in a yard in the southern Adirondacks. The mosaic twig work is yellow birch and striped maple, down to the cherry mustache on the upper crown portion of the piece. All of these were harvested in the Adirondacks. The drawers as well as the interior of the upper portion are lined with embossed leather with a Paisley Victorian pattern. Note all the joinery "Organic mortise and tenon “ with an inlay of reclaimed piano keys, the drawer pulls a small canoe paddle from the black piano keys .
I designed this piece as a show piece to let people see and understand what detail and style I can offer them in custom pieces. It traveled from the Adirondacks to Jackson Hole Wyoming, from New Hampshire to Connecticut, it has been to over a dozen shows. It has won several awards, from People Choice at the Northeastern Woodworker show in Saratoga Springs and winning Best of show at the Adirondack Museum Rustic furniture show. The piece was also featured on PBS twice. It is now back and being displayed in New Hampshire at Prospect Hill.
Of all the pieces I've ever created this is one of my favorites, a special
piece, never to be re-created, a true one of a kind."
